In Fitness and In Health; Sarah’s Fitness Leadership

“My passion for health grew as I embraced healthier living and exercise to reduce the prevailing risk of cardiovascular diseases in my community,” says Sarah, a GLOW Girl.

She is a student in Health Promotion and Sports Science. This educational path has exposed her to a world where fitness intertwines with holistic well-being.  Sarah’s passion gained momentum during her first year when she delved into aerobics. She developed a hunger for more profound insights into instructing aerobics, leading her to seek a deeper understanding of crafting fitness programs tailored for various age groups. This newfound knowledge became a cornerstone, equipping her to cater to clients with varied fitness goals.

She has not only learned how to conduct fitness tests but also developed the skills to handle different types of injuries that athletes might encounter during training or on the field. Through this process, she’s honed her ability to provide exercise therapy, a valuable skill set that has opened numerous career pathways.

Sarah's skills have also positioned her as a leader within her university community. She has seized opportunities to train various university games teams, including soccer, volleyball and netball. Her impact extends beyond the classroom, actively contributing to the health and fitness of her peers through her role as an instructor.

She has embraced volunteerism, particularly within the student skills lab (the gym). This experience has been transformative, equipping her with front office skills such as patient reception, personal detail recording, general office management and administration of fitness tests. Additionally, she explores aspects of filing and updating patients' health records, demonstrating her commitment to the holistic well-being of those she serves.

As she continues to learn, grow and inspire, Sarah exemplifies the positive influence that can emerge when education aligns with passion in the pursuit of a healthier, more vibrant future.
